Meet Nina Scalora, MA, LAC, NCC

Associate Counselor

(732)-361-4637

The way we think, feel, communicate, and connect with others is shaped by our experiences, relationships, and the ways we move through the world. Therapy can help you understand these patterns more deeply—whether you're struggling within a relationship, adjusting to a major change or loss, healing from trauma, or navigating anxiety, OCD, ADHD, or neurodivergence.

I especially enjoy working with couples and families, helping clients strengthen communication, work through recurring conflict, navigate changing roles and family dynamics, and rebuild connection. I also work closely with individuals experiencing trauma, grief, divorce, and significant life transitions, providing space to process what has happened while exploring how you want to move forward.

My work with OCD, anxiety, ADHD, and neurodivergence is equally individualized. Whether we're addressing intrusive thoughts and compulsions, patterns of avoidance, executive functioning challenges, emotional regulation, overwhelm, or feeling misunderstood by others, we'll work toward a better understanding of your experiences and identify approaches that fit the way you think, function, and relate to the world.

As a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I provide virtual therapy for children (8+), teens, adults, couples, and families throughout New Jersey under the clinical supervision of Danielle Brown, MS, LPC, NCC, ACS. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and individualized, with an emphasis on understanding the whole person and the relationships, experiences, and patterns that have shaped them.

A Thoughtful, Individualized Approach

I believe true change begins with understanding the patterns that shape your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences. Rather than taking a generic approach, I tailor therapy to your unique needs while creating a space where you can ask difficult questions, gain new perspectives, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

I tailor treatment to each individual's goals and needs by integrating a variety of evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Exposure Therapy

  • Person-Centered Therapy

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness, and Acceptance-Based interventions

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

  • Psychodynamic Therapy

  • Family Systems Therapy

  • Gottman Method techniques

  • Play Therapy

  • Somatic Therapy

Whether you're seeking support as an individual, couple, or family, we'll work together to develop practical strategies that promote emotional well-being and long-term growth.

Experience That Meets You Where You Are

I earned my Bachelor's degree from Towson University, where I double majored in Psychology and Sociology & Anthropology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. I later received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Caldwell University.

During graduate school, I completed my clinical internship at a nonprofit community counseling center, providing individual therapy to clients from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Throughout my career, I've worked with children, teens, adults, and families across diverse cultures and communities, supporting individuals through concerns including anxiety, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, ADHD, autism spectrum differences, eating disorders, grief, and relationship challenges.

These experiences have reinforced my belief that effective therapy begins by meeting each client exactly where they are and adapting treatment to fit their unique strengths, goals, and lived experiences.

A Little About Me

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time in nature, whether that's hiking a favorite trail or simply taking a peaceful walk outdoors. I also love traveling, exploring new places, making memories with family and friends, and appreciating quiet evenings at home with a good movie.

I believe growth happens through connection, curiosity, and self-compassion, and I strive to bring those values into every therapy session. My goal is to help each client feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported while creating a space where healing and self-discovery can unfold at your own pace.

Taking the first step toward therapy isn't always easy, but it can be the beginning of meaningful change. If you're ready to invest in your emotional well-being, I'd be honored to support you on your journey toward healing, resilience, and a more fulfilling life.
