Jessica Waldron, MA, LPC, NCC

Psychotherapist

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) at Empower and Thrive Counseling.  I attended Ramapo College of New Jersey, where I earned two Bachelor's degrees, one in Law and Society and the other in Psychology.  I then obtained my Master’s degree from Georgian Court University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

My career began as a Behavioral Assistant and mentor, where I provided counseling support and helped implement behavioral management strategies for youth with disabilities.  I have experience working at various partial hospitalization programs, where I led groups focusing on psychoeducation, coping skills, building interpersonal relationships, and more - I even assisted in starting a horticulture group!  After completing graduate school and internship, I practiced as an outpatient therapist, providing individual counseling to adolescents and adults and couples.

Currently, I work with youth and teens (ages 12 and up), adults, and seniors who suffer from anxiety and mood disorders. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, chronic illnesses, OCD, trauma, relationship issues, and ADHD/ADD.  I tailor treatment to each client’s individual needs, with a general focus on developing communication skills, building mindfulness and relaxation techniques, stress management, alleviating sleep issues, and goal setting. Through my diverse background as a clinician, I have gained numerous skills and techniques to help clients reach their goals.  I mainly utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy due to its extensive research and efficacy and include a combination of other approaches.  I provide a warm, caring environment and am dedicated to my clients and their success.

Outside of my work, I enjoy learning and trying new recipes, going for walks, playing piano, and am a mom to an adorable mini goldendoodle pup (who you will probably see during our virtual sessions). I understand how hard it can be to reach out for support, and starting out can be the toughest step! My job is to collaboratively guide you to rein in those unhealthy thought patterns and create healthier habits.  Contact me for a free consultation, I look forward to working with you!
